Obituary

Edward J. "Babe" Kolonsky Sr., 83, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Thursday.

Born in Turkey Run, Shenandoah, Sept. 18, 1931, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna Luscas Kolonsky.

He was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Mr. Kolonsky was a decorated Army veteran of the Korean War, having received the National Defense Service Medal.

Ed was a retired tool and die maker, having worked for more than 35 years for the former Western Electric & AT&T, now Lucent Technologies.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, and the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Shenandoah. He was also a member of the Shenandoah AMVETS Post 7.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were two brothers, Leonard and Thomas; and two sisters, Theresa and Leona.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Lucy Rauco; a son, Dr. Edward J. Kolonsky Jr. and his wife, Johanna, Shenandoah; two grandchildren, Maria Kolonsky, Annapolis, Md., and Edward J. "E.J." Kolonsky III, Shenandoah; a brother, Joseph Kolonsky, Turkey Run, Shenandoah; nieces and nephews.

Private services and interment in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights, will be held at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Trinity Academy , 233 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, PA 17976 or Marian High School Music Department, 166 Marian Ave., Tamaqua, PA 18252.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
