Edith Howells Sinkiewicz of Shenandoah passed away Monday night at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian St., Pottsville. She was born in Shenandoah July 28, 1938 to Ben and Anna Millichap Howells and was a 1956 graduate of the former JW Cooper High School. Edie retired in 1999 after 43 years as the office manager at Prudential Insurance in Pottsville.
Edie was a founder and the current secretary of the board of directors of the Shenandoah Area Free Public Library. She also helped in the organization of the Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society where she currently served as vice-president. Edie was very active in the annual Shenandoah Heritage Day and the Parade of Nations. She helped start and was an officer of the Shenandoah Valley PTA. She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Her parents, husband Joseph and sister, Harriette Shafer predeceased her. Edie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie & David Hannah of Royersford and the love of her life and apple of her eye, her granddaughter Bryn; her siblings and their spouses, Margaret and Ron Bernhard of Shenandoah Heights, Thomas and Jean Howells of Springfield MA and Lois Houser of Ashland; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews including Anna Mae (Mark) Seroka of Pottsville and their children, Amber, Abby and Tyler.
Words cant adequately convey gratitude to Marge, Ron & Anna Mae for all the help they gave Edie in the past 8 years. You were such a blessing to Edie!
Memorial Services will be held Friday, 12:00 noon at the First Baptist Church, Oak & West Streets, Shenandoah. Pastor Joseph McHugh will officiate. Friends may call from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the church.

Walukiewicz Oravitz-Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah is in charge of arrangements.
