Diane Marie Kalyan, 76, of Shenandoah, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
Born in Shenandoah, February 19th, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Florence "Flossie" (Bralczyk) Piaskowski.
Diane was educated in the local Shenandoah Catholic schools. She attended Alvernia Convent for two years before graduating from Shenandoah Catholic High School. She attended Pottsville Nursing School where she earned her RN degree/diploma.
She was a registered nurse for many years performing private duty nursing and skilled care. She retired as Assistant Director of Nursing/ RNAC at the former Locust Mountain Health Care facility, Shenandoah.
Diane was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah formerly Saint Casimir Church. Her love of singing was evident as she was an active member of St. Cecilia's Choir of St. Casimir's Church for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Polish Ladies Social Club where she loved performing at their annual showcases.
Diane loved decorating and baking for the holidays, spending time with her family, picnics, and long days at the beach. She never missed a QVC/ HSN special and loved showering her family with her latest finds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Florence "Flossie" Piaskowski, Shenandoah.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Ronald Kalyan, Sr; two loving sons, Ronald Kalyan, Jr and his wife, Sarah, Morgantown, and Jeffrey Kalyan, Reading; a loving daughter, Jennifer Kazi, and her husband, Aaron, Jarrettsville, MD. Two caring sisters, Elaine Alexander and her husband, Joseph, Reading, and Lisa Naugle and her husband, David, Wyomissing; and a brother in Shenandoah. Diane has five grandchildren: Cody Kalyan, Cassidy Gardill, AJ Kazi, Violet Kazi and Hazel Kazi; and one great-grandson, Noah Kalyan; nieces, nephews, cousins; many friends and her two cats Baby and Boots.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 9:00 am in Divine Mercy Church, 232 West Cherry Street, Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah.
