Daniel G. Fesco, age 69 of 207 N. Main St., Shenandoah passed away Sunday at his residence.
Born in Shenandoah on February 24, 1944 he is the son of Ann S. (Nestarick) Fesco with whom he resided and the late Daniel J. Fesco, a former Shenandoah businessman.
Danny was a graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School, a 1969 graduate of Pennsylvania State University and a 1974 graduate of the Institute of Financial Education School for Executive Development at the University of Oklahoma.
He was decorated Air Force Veteran during the Vietnam era; he received the Outstanding Unit Award and the Good Conduct Medal.
Danny was assistant vice president and branch manager of the former First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Hazleton at the Shenandoah branch and later worked in the Hazleton corporate office.
In 1978, Dan received the Outstanding Young Man of America award in recognition of his professional achievement, superior leadership and exceptional service to the community during his tenure as manager of the Shenandoah branch office.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and the A.P. Damato Medal of Honor Post 792 both of Shenandoah. Professionally, he served as president of the Northeastern Pennsylvania chapter of the Institute of Financial Education where he had completed and taught courses sponsored by the institute. He also served as the treasurer of the local Pennsylvania Mental Health Association campaign fund.
Danny was truly an asset to his family, as well as to his community, state and nation.
Surviving in addition to his mother are a sister, Mary Ann Swinburn and her husband Steven of Sparks, NV; cousins and many friends.
Religious and military services will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 AM in St. Casimir Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 8:00 AM until the time of services. There will be no calling hours Wednesday evening.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
