Obituary

Christine P. Teenie (Mohutsky) Sebastian, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, March 24, 2020 at the Lehigh Center, Macungie. Born in Shenandoah on March 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Oravitz) Mohutsky. She was a 1943 graduate of the former J. W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah. Christine married Walter Buddy Sebastian Aug 26, 1950 who preceded her in death on May 13, 2015. She was a member of St. John the Baptist de la Salle Catholic Church in Shillington. Christine was always there for anyone who needed her, including taking care of her younger brothers when their parents died at a very young age. Christine affectionately called Mom-Mom , cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was entertained by her various endearing remarks, affectionately referred to as Mom-Mom-isms i.e. hiya, merrily we live, never a dull moment, off to the races, God bless America, ready for Freddie, grin and bear it, pick a winner, make a trick, ya cant win, ya cant win, the wind blew and you know what flew, Stinky Miller, the list goes on and on. She loved square dancing with her husband, Buddy. She was the beloved ice cream lady at Wilson Southern Junior High School as well as a Brownie troop co-leader in the Sinking Spring community. She became an expert at cake decorating, making hot milk sponge birthday cakes for her family. She was an accomplished cook, lovingly preparing her familys frequently requested Coal Region ethnic dishes such as halupki, kishki, babka, bleenies, and others. She was an excellent seamstress and made drapes for every room of the family home in Sinking Spring. She knitted and crocheted, making afghans and other items for her family. She loved bingo, word searches, and game shows, particularly Family Feud. She especially loved playing cards and other games with her children and grandchildren"she was an expert card shark and managed to win quite often. Surviving are one son, Walter M. Sebastian and wife Judy of Cape Cod, MA; two daughters, Karen A. Haddigan of Sinking Spring, PA, and Mary C. Noecker and her husband Jim of Saugerties, NY; son-in-law, Tom Haddigan of Bethlehem, PA; seven grandchildren, Erin, Megan, Daniel, Timothy, Katelyn, Adam, and Scott; three great grandsons, Matthew, Michael, and Miles; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and her husband were siblings, Michael Mahutsky, Mary Jawor, Anna Kelly, Clarence Mohutsky, Emil Mohutsky, Ralph Mohutsky, Julia Ciesluk and Edward Mohutsky. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Divine Liturgy in St. Michael's Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Shenandoah on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 11:00 am. Monsignor Myron Grabowsky, Pastor will officiate. A visitation will be held prior to Liturgy at the church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
