Obituary

Charles J. "Charlie" Magalengo, 74 of Frackville passed away on Thursday morning, May 20, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown. Born in Shenandoah on August 8, 1946, he was a son of the late Joseph and Jennie (Kacelowicz) Magalengo. He was a 1964 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah. Mr. Magalengo was a decorated US Air Force Vietnam Veteran. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant having served from November 1965 until May 1969. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He retired after forty-two years of service working in the printing department at Silgan Corporation, Hazleton. Charlie was of the Catholic faith. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were two sisters, Josepha "Joey" Karr and a sister at birth, Barbara Jean Magalengo. Surviving are his wife of fifty-one years, the former Mary Ann Petusky; his son, Scott Magalengo and his wife Holly of Quakertown; four granddaughters, Keile, Aislin, Tavia & Mila Magalengo; one brother, Jan Magalengo and his wife Sally of Deer Lake; nieces and nephews. Funeral services with military honors and interment in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights will be held at a later date. Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S.
