Catherine A. "Cathy" Guers, 80 of Shenandoah Heights passed away peacefully on Monday, March 22, 2021 at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community. Born in Shenandoah on November 21, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Helen (Wardigo) Adlis. She was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah. Catherine retired from the Shenandoah Valley School District where she was employed as a cafeteria aide. She especially enjoyed working there as she saw her grandsons daily while they attended school. Earlier, she was employed by Ateeco Inc., Mrs. T's Pierogies, Shenandoah. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah formerly Saint George's Church. Cathy was always there for her family and friends. If they needed anything, such as a ride or an errand, they knew she was only a phone call away. She was an avid bingo player; she would pick up her friends and together they would enjoy the game and the time spent with each other. Surviving are her husband, Raymond D. Guers of 58 years; her three children, Deborah Hetherington and her husband Randy of Haslet, Texas, Raymond J. Guers and his wife Ellen of Shenandoah and Nancy Downs and her husband Brent of Reinholds; six grandchildren, Allison and Hanna Hetherington, Kyle and Riley Guers and Dawson and Dakota Downs; one sister, Mary Dobies of Baldwinsville, NY; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Religious services will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 10:15 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 8:30 am until 10:15 am at the funeral home. All state and federal COVID-19 guidelines and regulations will be observed; masks and social distancing will be required.
