Obituary

Anna (Kokra) Michalik, 81, of 100 S. Main St., Shenandoah formerly of Turkey Run, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson, Pottsville after a courageous fight with breast cancer.

Born in Shenandoah, December 16, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Wasil and Anna Kordilla Kokra. Born and raised in Turkey Run, she was a 1951 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

She was a member of St. Michaels Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Shenandoah and the ILGWU.

She worked in the local garment industry up until the birth of her children.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was a devoted member of her religious faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death byher husband, Stanley W. Hafie Michalik on April 27, 2007.

She is survived by a son, Stanley L. Michalik and his wife Paula of Carlisle; a daughter, Carol Ann Alleva and her husband, Brian of North Beach, MD; two grandchildren, Kathryn "Katie" Michalik and Dominic John Alleva; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Parastas services will be held Monday at 10:45 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Msgr. Myron Grabowsky, Parish priest will officiate. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Relatives and friends may call Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
