Obituary

Adolph L. "Adie" Jankaitis, 93 of Turkey Run, Shenandoah passed away on Saturday night, December 3, 2022 at Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg. Born in Shenandoah on June 24, 1929, he was a son of the late Stanley Jankaitis, Sr. and the late Laura (Stadalnick) Jankaitis. He was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah and attended the McCann School of Business, Mahanoy City. Mr. Jankaitis was a decorated Army veteran having served his country in the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with four bronze service stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an auto body repairman at the former Stan's Body Shop, Shenandoah having worked with his late brothers, Al and Stan. Adie was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah and the former St. George Church. He was a life member of the Defender Hose Company, Turkey Run and was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife, the former Anna M. Zarcufsky on November 16, 2019; three sisters, Laura Yackabonis, Joann Busila and Blanche Mazack; three brothers, Victor, Alphonsus and Stanley Jankaitis. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are his nephew and caregiver, Richard Mazack of Gilberton; additional nephews, nieces and their families also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 9:30 am at Divine Mercy Church, 232 West Cherry Street, Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow at 11:30 am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A visitation will be held on Monday morning from 8:00 am until 9:15 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah.
