Catherine R. “Kitty” (Slapkowski) Evanousky, 97 formerly of Shenandoah and Ringtown passed away on Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East, Pottsville.
Born in Shenandoah on October 26, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret Slapkowski.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the local garment industry.
Kitty was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah having been a lifelong member of St. Casimir Church. She was also a member of the ILGWU.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, Peter J. Evanousky; her son, Kenneth Evanousky; two brothers, Walter and Joseph Slapkowski and two sisters, Estella Birkelbach and Helen Kowalski. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are her son, Ronald P. Evanousky of Ringtown and his fiancé Lynda Kirk; three grandchildren, Lauren, Devon and Ryan Rose Evanousky; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 am in St. Casimir Church, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Casimir Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. There will be no viewing or services from the funeral home.
