Anna M. (Evanousky) Burchess, 96, formerly of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill, Pottsville.
Born in Shenandoah, July 19, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John and Marcella (Nenortas) Evanousky.
She was a 1939 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
Anna was a seamstress, having retired from the former Martin Shirt Factory, Shenandoah, in August 1983 after working 37 years. She was a member of the Amalgamated Garment Workers Union.
In addition, she was a member of the former St. George’s Church, Shenandoah, now Divine Mercy Parish.
Anna loved life, her family and many friends. She was devoted to St. George Church, she enjoyed cooking and the many trips she took as a former member of the Greater Shenandoah Senior Citizens. Above all, she loved and treasured the time spent with her grandson, Paul.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Leonard J. Burchess, on Aug. 9, 1986; a sister, Mary Reese; three brothers, John, Peter and Joseph Evanousky.
Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Myers and her husband, Paul, Lehighton; a grandson, Paul Carlen Myers, Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Alfonsus Evanousky and his wife, Lois, Wilmington, Del.; a sister, Dorothy Testa and her husband, Dominic, Verona, N.J.; two step-granddaughters, Pam Stettler and Amy Price; two step-great-granddaughters, Madison Stettler and Riley Price; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Casimir Church, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. Casimir Church, Shenandoah.
