Rose M. (Burns) Boxter, 66, of Pottsville, formerly of Shenandoah, passed away July 29 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Shenandoah, Dec. 22, 1950, she was a daughter of the late John J. Sr. and Antoinette M. “Tushie” (Meinkiewicz) Burns.
She was a graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School.
Rose was a member of the former Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah. In addition to watching sports, she also enjoyed participating in them and was a former coach for the Shenandoah Area Girls Softball League. Rose was an avid reader and loved all types of music. Rose will be missed for her laughter and her warm smile.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were two brothers, David Burns and John J. Burns Jr., and two sisters, Mary Ann Burns and Margaret “Peggy” Jablonski.
Surviving are a son, Jason Boxter, Frackville; two daughters, Amy Boxter, Frackville, and Lori Boxter, Wakefield, Mass.; a brother, Michael Burns and his wife, Pat, Shenandoah; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Divine Mercy Church, 230 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held from 9 until 10 a.m. Monday in Divine Mercy Church.
