Thomas B. Novatka, 80 of Sterling, Virginia, a former resident of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully June 26.
Born in Shenandoah, Aug. 5, 1936, he was a son of the late Steven and Elizabeth Karahuta Novatka.
Thomas was a decorated Air Force veteran.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were three brothers, Bernard Novatka, in childhood, and Joseph and Raymond Novatka; two sisters, Eleanor Zitkus and Violet Hobin.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia “Patti” Tomchick Novatka and loving and devoted father of Vincent Novatka and his wife, Marcy, and Christine Bock and her husband, Michael, all of Ashburn, Virginia. He is also survived by two loving grandsons, Tyler and Derek Novatka; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Casimir Church, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Casimir Church.
