James T. “Malone” Maloney, 82, of the Shenandoah High Rise Apartments, passed away peacefully Monday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill S. Jackson Street.
Born in Shenandoah, Jan. 15, 1934, he was a son of the late Edward and Nellie Downey Maloney.
He was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah, and Villanova University, Philadelphia.
He was a veteran of the Army.
He was first employed in the construction industry and later worked at the former Ashland State General Hospital. He was well known for detailing cars for family and friends in the Shenandoah area.
Malone was a member of the former Annunciation BVM Church, Phoenix Fire Company and a social member of the Polish American Fire Company, all of Shenandoah. He was also a member of the Rum Dums.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph “Chow,” Edward, Francis and John “Plick” Maloney.
Surviving are a sister, Mary Yoder, formerly of Shenandoah, a resident of Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehab Center, Frackville; sister-in-law and caregiver, Lucy Maloney, Shenandoah; nephews, nieces, cousins and their families.
A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
