Beverly A. New, 90, formerly of West Oak Street, Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at Cedar Brook Nursing Home, Allentown.
Born in Shenandoah, July 13, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Charles I. and Edna Mae Wolfe New.
She was a 1942 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
She retired from the former Evening Herald, Shenandoah, where she was employed as a bookkeeper in the circulation department.
Beverly was a devout member of Primitive Methodist Church, Shenandoah, having been the church organist there for 48 years and was also a member of its Ladies Aid Society. She also volunteered much of her time and talent with various other church functions and activities.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star 154, Ashland, and was past ma-tron of the former Shenandoah Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens and Rescue Hook and Ladder Company Ladies Auxiliary, Shenandoah.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were a brother, Donald New, and a sister, Charlotte Wolfer.
Surviving are her sister, Ruth Sevart and her husband, George, Macungie; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. The Rev. Neal E. Smith, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Primitive Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Shenandoah. Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
