Margaret I. “Peg” Price

Margaret I "Peg" (Dalius) PriceMargaret I. “Peg” (Dalius) Price, 97, formerly of Shenandoah Heights, who resided with her daughter, Helene Sterner, Whitehall, passed away peacefully Monday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown.

Born in Shenandoah, Aug. 25, 1918, she was a daughter of the late James and Hannah (Loeb) Dalius.

Peg and her husband, John “Jack” Price, who preceded her in death Dec. 21, 1999, owned and operated the former Price’s Variety Store, Shenandoah Heights.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Shenandoah, where she served as the former treasurer for more than 40 years.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Johnette Price and Ann Gary; a grandson, Thomas Gary; a brother, William Dalius.

Surviving, in addition to her daughter, Helene Sterner, Whitehall, are three grandchildren, Timothy Gary and his wife, Malkeet, Perry Hall, Md., Steven Sterner and his wife, Michele, Caribou, Maine, and Heather Hudson and her husband, David, Allentown; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah, with the Rev. Mindy Heppe, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 119 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, PA 17976 or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 417 Howertown Road, Catasauqua, PA 18032.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.

    Dear Helene and family,

    So sorry to hear of Aunt Peggy’s passing. I was so glad Cookie was able get in touch with us. I know it is never easy to lose a parent, but the memories will carry you through. I will always remember Aunt Peggy’s kind and gracious manner. May God continue to strengthen you as travel this long journey.
