Dolores C. Dubinsky Tichy, RN, 81, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Marian Tichy, Pottsville.
Born in Shenandoah on June 13, 1934, she was a daughter of the late John and Florence Bauser Dubinsky
She was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah, and the Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing.
Dolores was a registered nurse, having worked at the former Locust Mountain State General Hospital, Shenandoah Heights, and the former Ashland State General Hospital, Fountain Springs.
She was a devout and faithful member of the former St. George Church, Shenandoah. She was proud of her Lithuanian heritage and participated in various parish events, including the annual Heritage Day Parades and the Lithuanian Independence Day celebrations both at the church and at the Schuylkill Mall. She was also a member of the former St. George Guild and the Womens’ Alliance of the parish.
Dolores was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, the Anthracite Council 144 Knights of Lithuania, the Catholic Nurse’s Guild, North Schuylkill Chapter, and the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were a son, Joseph Tichy, and a brother, John Dubinsky.
Surviving, in addition to her son and daughter-in-law, are two granddaughters, Elisia and Angelica Tichy; cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Divine Mercy Church, 232 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah. The Rev. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 8:30 until the time of service on Wednesday. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Hillside SPCA, P.O.
