Edward D. “Herm” Seroka, 75, of Ringtown, passed away peacefully Wednesday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Ashland, Aug. 3, 1940, he was a son of the late Leo and Sophie Chesonis Seroka.
Herm graduated from the former Ringtown High School in 1958 and from Penn State University.
He retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Labor and Industry, Harrisburg as a building inspector.
He was a Navy veteran where he received the Good Conduct Medal.
On Jan. 29, 1972, in St. Casimir Church, Shenandoah, he married the former Geraldine M. “Gerry” Hyduk, who survives.
Herm was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah. He was past president and a former member of the Ringtown Rotary and was a Paul Harris Award Fellow recipient within Rotary International. He was also a member of the Shenandoah Fish & Game Protective Association, Zion Grove. Herm was an avid golfer and was a member of the golf leagues at Mountain Valley and White Birch Golf Courses, both in Barnesville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard L. Seroka.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 43 years, is a son, Charles “Chuck” Seroka and his wife, Heather, Pottsville; two grandsons, Brayden Seroka and William Foulds Jr.; a sister, Joan Brutto and her husband, Michael, Shenandoah; a brother, Mark Seroka and his wife, Anna Mae, Pottsville; a sister-in-law, Anna Seroka, California; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
