Edward J. Rudzinski, 69, of North Railroad Street, Frackville, passed away peacefully Friday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.
Born in Shenandoah, April 5, 1946, he was a son of the late Edward and Mary (Michalik) Rudzinski.
Ed was a 1964 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
He was a decorated Army veteran of the Vietnam era.
He retired from the former Alcoa Aluminum Corp., Cressona, where he was employed as inspector and extruder for more than 25 years.
Ed was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Frackville, having attended St. Ann Roman Catholic Church. He was a former member and past fire chief for the Altamont Fire Company No. 1, Frackville, the South End Field and Stream Association at the Whippoorwill Dam, Frackville, and the Buck Busters Hunting Club.
Ed thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, the former Margaret M. “Margie” Jones, on Oct. 4, 2012; and a brother, John Kruczek.
Surviving are his daughter, Jill M. Rudzinski and her fiance, Matthew Klinger; a granddaughter, Charlotte “Charley,” who was the love of his life; a sister, Judith Ross and her husband, James, Shenandoah Heights; two brothers, Gerald Rudzinski and his wife, Judith, Shenandoah Heights, and Paul Rudzinski and his wife, Sharon, Gambrills, Md.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann Church, Frackville. The Rev. Robert T. Finlan, pastor, will officiate. Interment with military honors will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann’s Church, Frackville.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
