Dominick F. “Stezo” Sposito, 86, a retired barber of West Centre Street, Shenandoah, and a resident at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community, passed away peacefully Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.
Born in Shenandoah, July 8, 1928, he was a son of the late George and Mary Miola Sposito.
Dominick was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
In 1938 he started his career as a barber working for Orlanda Vesci. In 1941 he then went to work for the Gallo Brothers, Frank and Louis. For the vast majority of his career he owned and operated his own barber shop in Shenandoah until his retirement.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Shenandoah, and the formerOur Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Shenandoah. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy and a former member of Frackville Masonic Lodge 737 and Shenandoah Sewer Authority.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were three sisters, Lena Kosmisky, Jean Pribish and Ann M. Dennison; three brothers, Anthony “Tony”, Frank and Joseph Sposito.
Surviving are a sister, Theresa Norris, Shenandoah; caregivers and close friends, Bernard and Felicia Bruni, New Boston, and their daughters, Cara and Maria; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in Divine Mercy Church, 232 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be held in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
