Joann A. (Lipiec) Hilbert

Joann HilbertJoann A. (Lipiec) Hilbert, 73, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Monday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

Born in Shenandoah, Aug. 12, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Adele Sibulski Lipiec.

She was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, Harrisburg.

Joann was a devout member of Divine Mercy Parish and the former St. George Church, both of Shenandoah. She frequently visited and prayed at the Chapel of Adoration, Shenandoah, and the Perpetual Adoration Chapel, Mahanoy City.

She was the stewardess of the Lith’s Club, Shenandoah, and was a life member of the Park Crest Fish & Game Association, Brandonville. She was also a member the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees Union.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was James H. “Jimbo” Hilbert.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jo Sadusky and her husband, Gerald “Jerry,” Shenandoah Heights; a grandson, Raymond “Jerry” Sadusky; a great-granddaughter, Gianna Sadusky; a stepdaughter, Nicole Slater and her husband, Bryan, Ringtown; two stepgrandchildren, Brittany and Preston Slater; a sister, Patricia Treshock and her husband, Leo, Shenandoah; a nephew, Paul Nevadomski; a stepsister, Mary Ann Adzentoivich and her husband, Ernie, Las Vegas, Nev.; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Divine Mercy Church, 232 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
