James H. “Jimbo” Hilbert

James "Jimbo" HilbertJames H. “Jimbo” Hilbert, 72, of Shenandoah, passed away early Thursday morning at Ridgeview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Shenandoah Heights.

He was born in Shenandoah on Dec. 3, 1941. Jimbo was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

He was employed in the maintenance and housekeeping departments at the former Locust Mountain State General Hospital, the former Hazleton State Hospital and having then retired from the former Hazleton General Hospital.

Jimbo was a life member and former officer of the Park Crest Fish & Game Club, Brandonville, and the Shenandoah Fish & Game Protective Association, Zion Grove. He was a member and current president of the Lith’s Club, Shenandoah.

Preceding him in death were his wife, the former Anna Marie Wachhaus; mother, Mary Mincewicz Robel; step-father, Aloysius Robel; father, James Hilbert; and a brother, Daniel Hilbert.

Surviving are Joann Hilbert, Shenandoah; two daughters, Nicole Slater and her husband, Bryan, Ringtown, and Mary Jo Sadusky and her husband, Jerry, Shenandoah Heights; a son, John Hilbert, Frackville; two sisters, Theresa Robel Price and her husband, Jack, Ashland, and Dolores Schlauch, Zion Grove; grandchildren, a great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Prayer and scripture services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St. Shenandoah. The Rev. Mindy Heppe will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Trustees of The University of Pennsylvania, Penn Vet’s Internal Medical Service at Ryan Hospital in Honor of Julie Callahan Clark, BS, DVM and mailed to Penn Vet Office of Advancement, 3800 Spruce St., Room 172E, Philadelphia, PA 19104 or the Hillside SPCA, c/o Joe’s Fund, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
