Donald Charles “Country Charlie” Lorady Sr., 81, of Raven Run, formerly of Levittown, passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening at his residence.
Born in Raven Run, Feb. 10, 1933, he was a son of the late James and Irene Wagner Lorady.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator, having worked for US Steel Corp., Fairless Hills, for 30 years.
Donald was a former member of the former Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah. He also was a member of the US Steel Workers’ Union where he served as an officer for many years.
He enjoyed life, especially when in the company of his family and friends. “Country Charlie” took pleasure in listening to country music; in addition, he sang and played it on his guitar. He also was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by brothers and sisters.
Surviving are a son, Donald C. Lorady Jr. and his wife, Maggie, Fairless Hills; two daughters, Rose Pergola and her husband, Charles, Manasquan, N.J., and Sandra M. Marsh, Pocono Lake; three stepsons, Sammy, Steven and Scott Fenton; five grandchildren, Simon and Darrin Lorady, Nicole Hendry and Michael and Andrew Hinkle; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Fatula, Raven Run, Peggy Zamonsky, Frackville, and Dolores Kowalick, Lansdale; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Divine Mercy Parish Sacred Worship site, St. Casimir Church, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Casimir Church.
