Virginia A. “Ginny” Shearn Makarczyk, 63, of Shenandoah, passed away suddenly early Sunday morning at Mercy Suburban Hospital, Norristown.
Born in Shenandoah, April 17, 1951, she was a daughter of the late James and Margaret Hudock Shearn.
She attended the local parochial schools in Shenandoah and graduated from St. Francis Academy, Bethlehem.
Ginny began her career in banking at the former Union Bank, Shenandoah. She then worked with her husband, the late Dr. Stanley Makarczyk at their Shenandoah optometry office. Currently, she was employed as a bank teller in the Miners Bank, Frackville.
She was a member of St. George Roman Catholic Church, Shenandoah. She currently served as an officer for the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. Ginny was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed golfing with friends at Mountain Valley Golf Course.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Dr. Stanley Makarczyk, in 2010 and one brother, James “Dimber” Shearn.
Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer S. Makarczyk, Norristown; one brother, Joseph Shearn and his wife, Ann, Hoboken, N.J.; two sisters, Rose Grutza and her husband, Frank, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Debbie Barlow and her husband, Thomas, Shenandoah Heights; a niece and godchild, Jamie Barlow, Shenandoah Heights; additional nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends; her cats, Sheldon and Sofia; and her granddog, Paris.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 8 p.m. in Annunciation BVM Roman Catholic Church, Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
