Joseph J. Lefchick

Joseph J. LefchickJoseph J. Lefchick, age 67 of Shenandoah Heights passed away peacefully Thursday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville.

Born in Shenandoah on June 13, 1946 he was the son of the late Michael and Rose (Galitsky) Lefchick.

Joe was educated in the Shenandoah public elementary schools.  After moving with his family to Brandonville, East Union Township he then attended and graduated from Hazleton High School in 1964.

He was a peacetime Army Veteran.

Joe was an insurance agent; he retired in 2001 having worked for over thirty years for People’s Life Insurance Company.

US FlagMr. Lefchick was a member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Shenandoah, the American Legion Post #909, Mahanoy Plane, the Frackville Lodge #737 Free & Accepted Masons and the Russian Brotherhood Organization of the USA and was a life member of the A.P. Damato Medal of Honor Post #792, Shenandoah.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was a sister, Terry Lamberth who had resided in Coronado, CA.

Surviving are a cousin and caregiver, Charles V. Savage of Girardville; additional cousins also survive.

Parastas Services will be held Monday 10:00 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah.  Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Monday 10:30 am in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Shenandoah.  Rev. Mark Fesniak will officiate.  Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Greek Catholic Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 8:00 am until 10:00 am.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
