Elizabeth C. “Betty” (Higgins) Laudeman

Betty LaudemanElizabeth C. “Betty” (Higgins) Laudeman, age 67 of South Jardin Street, Shenandoah passed away Saturday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

Born in Shenandoah on May 27, 1946 she was the daughter of the late Bernard M. and Elizabeth A. (White) Higgins.

She was a 1964 graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School.  She was also a graduate of McCann School of Business, Mahanoy City.

Betty first worked for the FBI in Washington D.C. and then moved to Harrisburg and was employed there in the insurance industry.  In order to care for her ailing parents, she returned to Shenandoah and worked for over twenty years at the former Merchants National Bank of Shenandoah.  She retired from the Union Bank & Trust Company, Pottsville.

On August 16, 1985 she married her loving husband, William H. Laudeman who survives.

Betty was a member of the Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah where she volunteered much time with various parish events and activities.  She was also a member of the Mahanoy City ELKS Ladies’ Auxiliary.  She was a great supporter of the Hillside SPCA, Pottsville.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 28 years, William H. Laudeman are a stepson, William John Laudeman of Raleigh, NC; one sister-in-law, Anne Laudeman of Ringtown, her dear friend of sixty years, Evelyn (Dougherty) Sponsler of Harrisburg, nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and her beloved dog, “Shadow”.

Bill & Betty LaudemanPrayer and scripture services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah.  Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate.  Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
