Francis W. “Fritz” Jarzinko

Francis JarzinkoFrancis W. “Fritz” Jarzinko, age 72 of Lost Creek passed away suddenly at his residence.

Born in Shenandoah on July 3, 1941 he was a son of Jean (Kalenkosky) Jarzinko of Shenandoah and the late Francis “Frank” Jarzinko.

He was a 1959 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

US FlagFritz was a decorated Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era and Peacetime where he served as a chef.  He received the Good Conduct Medal.

Prior to his retirement, he was the head cook at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Schuylkill Haven.

Fritz was a former member of St. Mary Magdalene Church, Lost Creek and a member of the Shenandoah Fish & Game Protective Association, Zion Grove.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Preceding him in death in addition to his father were his wife, the former Ruth Ann Lawson, a son, Frank A. Jarzinko, and a step-son, Thomas Ryan.

Surviving in addition to his mother are two daughters, Mikki Jarzinko and her fiancé, Duane Dalley of Shenandoah and Melissa Ann “Missy” Lombardo and her husband, Joseph of Lost Creek; two brothers, Paul Jarzinko of Shenandoah and Bill Jarzinko and his wife Alice of Aristes; two sisters, Judy Jarzinko of Shenandoah and Mary Balkiewicz of Ringtown; two grandchildren, Justin Frantz of Shenandoah and Jordin Jarzinko of Kulpmont; an aunt, Winifred Jarzynko; one step-son, Robert Ryan and his wife Paula of Shenandoah Heights; three step-daughters, Margaret “Peggy” Hysock and her husband James of Shenandoah, Jacqueline Tym of Shenandoah and Patricia “Patty” Chatkiewicz of Inverness, Florida; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; his companion, Gaynell Mack of Lost Creek, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

DeerPrayer and scripture services will be held Thursday, 12:15 p.m. at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah.  Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian will officiate.  Interment with military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.  There will be no calling hours Wednesday evening.
