Stephen J. Tokarchick

Gone Fishing!Stephen J. Tokarchick, age 88 of Big Mine Run, Ashland passed away Saturday at his residence.

Born in Shenandoah on October 27, 1924 he was a son of the late John and Anna Tokarchick.

Steve was a graduate of Penn State University with B.S. in Education.

US FlagMr. Tokarchick was a World War II Coast Guard Veteran.

He retired from the former Parish Steel Company, Reading where he worked in the maintenance department.

Steve was a member of St. Stephen’s Church, Shenandoah.  He enjoyed the outdoors, not only in recreational activities, but also in maintaining his garden and home.  He was an avid fisherman and loved animals; he even cared for the stray animals in his neighborhood.  He also took pleasure in going to the local casinos.  Above all he cherished the time spent with his daughter in Maryland.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife the former Elizabeth T. “Betty” Bresnock on July 8, 2003; Steve was a faithful and devoted husband to her.  Also preceding him in death were one brother, John and five sisters, Mary, Anna, Susan, Helen and Irene.

Surviving are one daughter, Deborah S. Tokarchick of Bethesda, MD; one sister, Olga Kalbach of Coatesville; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday 10:30 AM from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S Jardin St., Shenandoah.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Church, Shenandoah.  Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate.  Interment with his dear wife will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the funeral home.  There will be no calling hours Wednesday evening.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to St. Stephen’s Church Memorial Fund, c/o 108 West Cherry St., Shenandoah, PA 17976.
