Julia T. Chatcavage, age 97 of Shenandoah passed away Saturday evening.
Born in Shenandoah on March 16, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Constance (Michalowski) Chatkiewicz.
She was a 1934 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
Prior to her retirement she worked as a bookkeeper for the former Purolator Products, Pattersonville and earlier she worked for former C.E. Rooney Buick auto dealership, Shenandoah.
Julia was a member of Saint Casimir Church, Shenandoah, the Rosary and Sacred Heart Societies of the parish, the former Polish Ladies’ Social Club and the Locust Mt. Hospital Auxiliary.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were four brothers, Frank and Edward Chatcavage and Anthony and Joseph Chatkiewicz; three sisters, Catherine Maksimik and infants, Sophie and Helen.
Surviving are her niece and caregiver, Katherine “Kitty” Breznik of Shenandoah, additional nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 in Saint Casimir Church, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. There will be no visitation or services from the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to St. Casimir Church or the Chapel Fund both c/o 108 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, PA 17976 or will be available at the church.
