Blanche M. (Dargis) Weis

Blanche M. WeisBlanche M. (Dargis) Weis, age 97, a resident of Providence Place, Pottsville died late Tuesday afternoon, November 27, 2012.

Born in Shenandoah on July 13, 1915, Blanche was the daughter of the late Anthony and Stella (Popik) Dargis.

She was educated in the West Mahanoy Township Schools.  Blanche was employed in the billing department of Ivers Lee Pharmaceutical Co. in New Jersey.  After retiring in 1971, she and her late husband, Charles moved to Frackville where she resided on South Nice Street until 2009.

Blanche was of the Catholic faith.  She was a member of Annunciation BVM Church, Frackville.  She was a long-standing member of both the Frackville and Shenandoah Senior Citizens’ Groups.  She enjoyed bus trips to dinner shows with fellow seniors and always looked forward to being in the company of family and friends.  Blanche was also a member of the Schuylkill County Lithuanian Woman’s Club.  She loved to do crafts and was an avid pinochle enthusiast.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Charles G. Weis in August of 2000; three brothers, Anthony, Peter and Stanley Dargis; one sister, Sister Delphine Dargis, Order of St. Francis, Pittsburgh.

Surviving are a sister, Sister Marita Dargis, Order of St. Francis, Pittsburgh; nieces, nephews and her devoted friend and caregiver, Virginia “Ginny” Stanziola of Frackville.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday morning at 9:45 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at Annunciation BVM Church, Frackville.  Rev. Robert T. Finlan, Pastor will officiate.  Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning from 8:00 AM until time of services.  There will be no calling hours on Friday evening.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Blanche’s name to the Shepherd’s Unit at Providence Place, 2200 First Ave., Pottsville, PA 17901 or Annunciation BVM Church Memorial Fund, 7 S. Broad Mt. Ave., Frackville, PA 17931.
