Joann M. Snyder

Joann M. SnyderJoann M. Snyder, age 53 of 215 E. Centre St., Shenandoah passed away Friday evening at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Bethlehem.

Born in Shenandoah on March 19, 1959, she is a daughter of Roseann M. (Koval) Snyder with whom she resided and the late William J. Snyder, Sr.

She was a 1977 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School and Bloomsburg University where she received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Administration and Accounting.  Professionally, she also attended many seminars and continuing education coursework in banking and trust.

Joann currently worked as a bank examiner for the Pennsylvania State Department of Banking.  Earlier, she worked as a bank examiner for the federal government and also served as a Senior Vice-president at Franklin First Federal Bank, Wilkes-Barre.  She held membership in various banking and auditing associations.

She was a member of St. George’s Church, Shenandoah.

Preceding her in death in addition to her father were her paternal grandparents, Dominic & Irene Snyder and maternal grandparents, Stanley & Rose Koval.

Surviving in addition to her mother are a sister, Marie Snyder with whom she resided; a brother, William J. Snyder, Jr. with whom she resided and his fiancé and her caring friend, Carol Zitka of Shenandoah; an aunt, Joan Clarkson and her husband, Edward of Virginia Beach, VA; cousins and their families and her faithful companion, her mixed German Shepherd, “Roy Roy.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St. Casimir’s Church, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah.  Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.  There will be no public viewing or services from the funeral home.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
