Mary Dorothy (Shoup) Klinger

Mary Dorothy KlingerMary Dorothy (Shoup) Klinger, age 86 of 108 Snyder Ave., Pine Grove passed away Tuesday evening at Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in Shenandoah on February 2, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Charles Ellis and Elizabeth (Brokenshire) Shoup.

She was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.  Mary also received a certificate for her training in upholstering and design and worked for various upholstering and clothing companies.

Mrs. Klinger was a very devout, loyal and faithful member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Pine Grove.  She served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the United Methodist Women.  Not only at St. Paul’s Church, but throughout her life, Mary Dorothy belonged to many Methodist congregations that her late husband, Rev. Galen Klinger ministered.  She always took an active and supportive role for the people her husband served.  

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, Rev. Galen Norman Klinger in 1995; a son, Galen Paul Klinger in 2006; a brother, Charles Shoup and a sister, Betty Shoup.

Surviving are her sister, Helen Shoup of Shenandoah; three grandchildren, Kristin Klinger of Martinsburg WV; Katelyn Klinger of Bridgeport, WV and Kellie Fitzpatrick and her husband Drew of Oak Hill, WV; a great-granddaughter, Raegan Fitzpatrick; a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Klinger of Bridgeport, WV; a brother-in-law, Edward Klinger of Williamstown; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Pine Grove.  Rev. Dr. Ira Lydic, Pastor will officiate.  Relatives and friends may call at the church Friday morning from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.  Interment will follow in Odd Fellow Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
