Bernadette M. “Bernie” (Sanders) Kovalesky, age 77 of 213 W. Columbus St., Shenandoah passed away Saturday morning at Shenandoah Senior Living Community.
Born in Shenandoah on July 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Marie (Kruthers) Sanders.
She was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
Prior to her retirement she had worked for the former Harris Bakery, Shenandoah.
Mrs. Kovalesky was a member of St. George’s Church, Shenandoah.
Bernie enjoyed bingo and trips to casinos both locally and in Atlantic City.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, Joseph F. Kovalesky in 1995; a brother, John Sanders and a sister, Anna Sanders.
Surviving are a son Joseph R. Kovalesky of Ringtown; a daughter, Mary Ann Peifer Kovalesky of Shenandoah; four grandchildren, Jennifer Petrus, Robert Kovalesky, Kelly Hudock, and Michael Hudock; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Hunter; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Religious services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:30 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S Jardin St., Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 10:30 am until the time of services. There will be no calling hours Tuesday evening.
