Valeria Ann “Violet” (Lapatovich) Kusza of 313 West Cherry Street, Shenandoah passed away Friday afternoon at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.
Born in Shenandoah on June 12, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Victor and Victoria (Shustack) Lapatovich.
Violet was a devout catholic and an active member of St. Casimir’s Church, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Union of Polish Women in America.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 67 years, Walter C. Kusza who died in 2003; two brothers, Edward and Walter Lapatovich; three sisters, Helen Monaghan, Adele Swartz and Rose Lazuk; and her nephew and caregiver, Russell Karahuta.
Surviving are a sister, Genevieve Honorowski of Charleston, SC; her great-niece and caregiver, Kathleen Herb of Shenandoah, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Cocie Violet was a beloved mother figure and a loving aunt to her many nieces, nephews and their families. She was a skilled seamstress and dressmaker, an avid gardener and baker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 AM from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 AM in St. Casimir’s Church. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. There will be no calling hours Friday evening.
