Frances V. (Smith) Rauba, age 96, a resident of the Shenandoah Senior Living Community formerly of South Catherine St., Shenandoah passed away Friday morning at the center.
Born in DuBois on July 14, 1915 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Varnuta) Smith.
She was educated in the West Mahanoy Township Schools.
Frances was a retired garment worker having worked in the local garment industry.
She was proud of her Lithuanian heritage as a devout member of St. George’s Church, Shenandoah and the Knights of Lithuania. She was also a member of the ILGWU Retirees and the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, Ignas Rauba in 1980; two brothers, Joseph Smith and William McClusky; three sisters, Helen Bell, Stella Manuel and Anna Trusow.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are nieces and caregivers, Susan wife of Joseph Chernesky of Shenandoah and Frances Trusow and her companion George Semanchik of St. Clair; nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 9:30 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St, Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday morning from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. There will be no calling hours Sunday evening.
