Alice J. (Jones) Shistel, 91, 19 Chelton Street, Lower William Penn, Shenandoah, passed away Friday at Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Frackville.
Born in Shenandoah on June 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Cora Boyer Jones.
Mrs. Shistel was a retired garment worker, having worked for the former Martin Shirt Factory, Shenandoah.
She was a member of the William Penn United Methodist Church and the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Christian J. Shistel, in September 1992; two grandsons, John and Christopher Mahmod; and two brothers, Thomas and Nelson Jones.
Surviving are a son, Joseph Shistel and his wife, Donna, Barnesville; three daughters, Joan Zakarevicz, Deer Lake, Theresa J., wife of Roger Lane, Frackville, and Ruth Mahmod with whom she resided in Lower William Penn, Shenandoah; two step-daughters, Georgine, wife of Chester Klim, Reading and Marilyn, wife of Lester Kaylor, Palmyra; two sisters, Mary Ann and Susan; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. The Rev. Margie Marshman will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
