Francis “Frank” Staskiel, age 78 a resident of Shenandoah Senior Living Community passed away Sunday at the center. He was a former resident of Weston Place, West Mahanoy Township.
Born in Ashland on October 31, 1932 he was the son of the late Francis and Elsie (Weist) Staskiel.
Frank was retired from General Motors in Wilmington, DE where he worked for 32 years.
He was a decorated Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
Frank was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the AP Damato Medal of Honor Post #792 both of Shenandoah. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife, the former Dorothy M. Howard on February 13, 1995 and a sister, Alberta Gober.
Surviving are a stepsister, Mary M. Guetling of Schuylkill Haven; a nephew, Harry Howard and his wife Roseanne of Ringtown; nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services with military honors on Thursday morning at 10:00 am in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Rev. Christopher Wollyung will officiate.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
