Bernard J. Chiscavage, age 61 of 405 Ohio Ave, Shenandoah Heights passed away Monday at his residence.
Born in Shenandoah on October 5, 1949 he was the son of Stasia (Zaleskie) Chiscavage of Shenandoah and the late Bernard A. “Tex” Chiscavage.
Bernie was a decorated Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War where he became disabled. His decorations and citations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Expert Rifle Medals (M-14 & M-16).
In earlier years, Bernie enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Preceding him in death in addition to his father was a brother, Albert Chiscavage.
Surviving in addition to his mother are three sisters, Marie Van Horn of Mahanoy City, Carole wife of Robert Stanakis of Ringtown and Sharon wife of Tom Steward of Shenandoah; a brother, Leonard Chiscavage of Shenandoah; an uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prayer Services will be held Friday at 11:30 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 1:30 pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday morning from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
