Francis E. "Frank" Macus

Francis E. “Frank” Macus, age 67 of 340 Wyoming Ave., Shenandoah Heights passed away Thursday morning at his residence.

Born in Shenandoah on November 22, 1943 he was the son of the late John and Anna (Valousky) Macus.

Frank was a 1961 graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School.  In 1965, he graduated from Williamson School of Trade, Media where he attained his masonry skills.

He was a decorated United States Army Veteran having served his country from 1965 to 1967.  His decorations include the Marksman Rifle and National Defense Service Medals.

As a bricklayer in the masonry trade, Frank was a member of and worked for the Bricklayers’ Union Local #5, Harrisburg.

He was a devout member of St. Stephen’s Church, Shenandoah where he served as lector, Eucharistic Minister, volunteer and vice-president of the Holy Name Society of the parish.  Frank visited and distributed communion to homebound parishioners and those in nursing homes.  His ministry was not exclusive to St. Stephen’s Church; Frank served the greater Shenandoah Catholic Community with dedication and compassion.  Frank was also a former member of the William Penn Fire Company.

Surviving are his wife the former Frances A. “Fran” Mankiewicz to whom he was married 40 years; a daughter, Maria of Palmyra; a brother, John A. Macus of Baton Rouge, LA; a sister Barbara Macus Zogby of Harrisburg; two nephews, Michael Zogby of Maplewood, NJ and John Macus, III in Japan; aunts, cousins and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10:30 am in St. Casimir’s Church, Shenandoah.  Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate.  Interment with military honors will follow at 12:30 pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

St. FrancisFriends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.  There will be no calling hours on Monday evening.

The family prefers donations to St. Stephen’s Church Memorial Fund, 108 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, PA 17976 or Hillside SPCA, PO Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
