Leon J. Blashock

Leon J. BlashockLeon J. Blashock, age 81 of 133 W. Girard Ave., Shenandoah entered into eternal life on Thursday at his residence with his loving wife of 48 years at his side.

He was the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Kalenkoski) Blashock.

Leon was a decorated World War II Army Veteran having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations.  His decorations and citations include the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan.

Mr. Blashock was a member of St. Stephen Church, Shenandoah, American Legion Post #398, Frackville and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons Carl and Erick Blashock and a brother Frank Blashock.

Surviving are his beloved wife, the former Margaret “Peggy” Lawrence; two daughters, Leah wife of Thomas Guzinski of Shenandoah Heights and Carol wife of Mark Boyce of Elysburg; five sons, David Blashock and his wife Lisa of Oklahoma, James Blashock and his wife Sara of Canada, Leon Blashock and his wife Carol of Kersey, Joseph of Mahanoy City and Frank Blashock of Frackville; twenty one grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Mary wife of Thomas Snyder of Schuylkill Haven, Judy wife of Thomas Glanda of Red Lion and Barbara Bisco of Shenandoah; an aunt, Jean Jarzinko of Shenandoah; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

Religious and military services will be held on Monday at 10:30 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am in St. Stanislaus Church, Shenandoah.  Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate.  Interment with military honors will follow at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Friends may call the funeral home on Monday morning from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.  There will be no calling hours on Sunday evening.
