Catherine M. Lazuk Marasco, 85, a resident of Shenandoah Senior Living Community and a former resident of Ringtown and Fairless Hills, passed away Sunday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.
Born in Shenandoah, Jan. 14, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Kosten and Rose Levitsky Lazuk.
Catherine was a graduate of J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah, attended Penn State University and Eastman School of Music, Rochester, N.Y.
After relocating to Fairless Hills with her late husband, Carmen, and daughter, Sandy, she was a Girl Scout Leader, a Homeroom Mother in the Pennsbury School District, and a member of the Ladies’ Hospital Auxiliary and the Bucks County Garden Club.
Catherine was a member of the Holy Ghost Polish National Catholic Church, Shenandoah, and the American Legion Auxiliary, Ringtown. She also held former memberships in the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens, Frackville Area Senior Citizens and Ringtown Area Senior Citizens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen Casper Marasco, in October 1990; and a brother, Paul Lazuk.
Surviving are a daughter, Casandra “Sandy,” wife of Ronald D. Grutza, Ringtown; an aunt, Violet Kusza, Shenandoah; cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Holy Ghost Polish National Catholic Church, Shenandoah. The Rev. Robert Plichta, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Friends may call at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services Thursday. There will be no calling hours Wednesday evening.
